electrik - theatrik operation 2003 August : [documentation]
8 hour performance installation connected between Theatrum Anatomicum Amsterdam and ArtSpace Gallery Sydney. Sunday 17 August 2003. The 8 hour performance was divided into seven sections. A projector was suspended vertically and displayed alternately output from KeyWorx patches or live video feed. Three television monitors placed on the floor displayed live video outputs of the space and a video stream from Sydney. The space was filled with props: a trunk full of dresses, a large sub woofer, amplifier, bass guitar, accordion, a screen made of petals and flower, a stack of pillows, children's music boxes. The time element was part of a daily rhythm, instead of a condensed and focused form of entertainment. sister O in a sequined top vibrates a container of water with her bass guitar, sister O reveals invisible text on her body by fanning herself with an uv light. sister O assembles a light seeking robot while sister O knits and swigs beer. sister O teaches the children to drive the robot with a torch, sister O breathes through her accordion. Sister O sings from the balcony. sister O dances the tango in the Nieuwmarkt.
This took place in the street zone around, and inside the 'theatrum anatomicum'
(most known as the site for Rembrandt's painting 'The Anatomy Lesson') at Waag
Society for new and old Media in Amsterdam, with a station also hosted by Artspace
in Sydney, Australia. This is the first series of public manifestations by sister
O, which a recent Open-rehearsal was held in Colombia at the Colombo Cultural
institute. It's conception involved a research period at the Society for Ethno-medicine
in south Colombia, at Waag Society for New and Old Media, Sensing Presence lab,
where translocal meetings in a KeyWorx environment between nancy mauro-flude,
Linda Dement and Michelle Teran took place.

< On sister O the unlocatable mesmeriser > sister O spreads over different areas, there is a presence in the places where other people are involved. I work locally and translocally, as sister O. As sister O characters multiply, and resonate in individual ways according to the place. sister O is mostly serpentine, hyperaware and connected, existing on the horizontal plane, a virtual place. It is familiar for her to be in the underwater database. However, when she is vibrated enough, she comes through to Operate in the physical ‘street’ world and with this brings part of the database with her.

"St Isabelle and 11000 maidens" . Qtime movie of a sculpture by "anonymous" at Rijks Museum, Amsterdam.
A quicktime image of "St. Isabelle and 11 000 maidens" was broken down and released into a sea of butterflies, text embedded in landscape, digital palimpsests via keyworx realtime renderers. "St. Isabelle and 11 000 maidens" who in 1400's were brutally killed by the Huns on a pilgrimage back from Rome. These women were killed because they were nomads.
sister O recoded
the archetypes with her computer as a divination tool. The
archetypal form is a western construct locked into a structure. sister O is
released these into other states, and ways of being understood, as entities
of forces and flows. The cells inter-connected and alive.

We use icq chat software
to ask questions and trouble shoot. Numerical data that contains an analysis
of the output of mouse action, is put up to see the mouse movements of each
other. We use our keyboard module to ask the teleconnected Ouija board questions,
it is a conduit to the underwater base. The sister O trinity sense
the flow from the cellular network, they ask a question and hold their finger
on the mouse to see which letters are highlighted in order to see what the flows
say from the underwater database of subjugated knowledge's.
